Fine Arts Center Grand Opening!

In celebration of the opening of the new Fine Arts Center at Arcata High School, The Northern Humboldt Union High School District (NHUHSD) held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on June 3, 2016.   The event was extremely well attended and included refreshments, student led tours, art exhibitions, and concluded with the Spring Concert featuring performances by the Arcata High School Choir, Madrigal Choir, the ArMack Jazz Band, and ArMack Orchestra;  all under the direction of music teacher, Cassandra Moulton.

The state of the art facility includes a 450 seat theater, three class rooms that accommodate dance, choir, drama and music, a black box theater, five soundproof practice rooms, a digital audio studio, visual arts exhibition spaces, two galleries, dining area, and commercial kitchen.  NHUHSD gives a special thanks to Pierson Company and David Pierce Architect for their partnership and effort to make the dream of this facility a reality for our students and community!  Superintendent, Chris Hartley expressed his gratitude for the passage of the Measure Q bond in 2010, “we are extremely fortunate to be part of a community that realizes the importance of providing NHUHSD with the opportunity to develop facilities that provide our teachers, students, and community with the absolute best learning environment possible.”
