Explore Career Options in the Trades/Hear from Industry Experts

Monday, September 24 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Arcata High School Library

Trades careers are in huge demand in Humboldt County and throughout California. Working in the trades provides great wages, advancement opportunities, and the chance to work pretty much anywhere that you want to live. Next Monday evening, September 24th from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Arcata High School library, we are hosting a panel with industry experts to discuss careers and jobs in the trades. Our panelists will provide information about how students can prepare for jobs and learn trade skills through the new “Trades Academy,” a local initiative that brings a training lab to teach hands on skills to students at our NHUHSD high schools. Local Rotary clubs are also involved by committing to provide scholarship money to support students who pursue post high school training and apprenticeship programs in the trades.  All students and parents are welcome to join us for the September 24th panel, which will start promptly at 6:30 p.m.  Show up early at 6:00 p.m. to check out the Mobile Trades Lab with instructor Jack Sheppard in the Arcata High School parking lot. September 24th Trades Industry panelists are:

  • Chris Albright, O&M Industries
  • Tony Lucchesi, Pacific Builders
  • Dale Maples, Maples Plumbing
  • Kerry Mayer, CR Dean of Career Education (CR offers trades training programs in construction, auto, solar technology, welding, cabinetmaking, drafting & more)
